Products Every New Mother Should Have

Becoming a new mom is an exciting and overwhelming experience. Make the transition into motherhood a shrimp bit easier by making sure that you have the following products in your mommy arsenal.

Microwave Steam Sterilizer – Traditionally, all bottles, pacifiers, and breast pump needed to be boiled or run through the dishwasher for sterilization. While both of these methods are effective, they take quite a bit of time. Say goodbye to waiting for water to boil in the middle of the night when you are out of bottles by investing in a microwave steam sterilizer. This handy product is easy to load up with bottles and pacifiers and sterilizes everything in just 5 minutes. The best part of this product is that you can spend the minutes you do skipping the boiling method with your new arrival.

Hand Sanitizer – It seems like a simple enough product but you will be amazed how often you will exercise it. As a new mother of twins, I had bottles of hand sanitizer scattered throughout my house. Keep one on an entry table or a ledge by the front door and succor all your guests to exercise it on their procedure in. Surely you will have swarms of family and friends coming to visit your new baby. Protect your newborn from everyone’s germs by encouraging them to use the hand sanitizer before picking up the baby. Keeping a bottle by the bottle situation and the changing table is also very useful. For on-the-go use, keep a small travel bottle right in your diaper bag.

A Swing or Glider – The soothing motions of gliders and swings is a great device to calm a cranky baby and can also come in handy for daytime napping. Many models now come with a variety of motions, vibrations, and sounds built apt in. The only key to these incredible items is to keep plenty of batteries on hand.

A Breast Pump – If you are planning on breast feeding, a breast pump is an absolute essential. There are sure to be times when your newborn is not around and you will want to find relief for yourself with the use of a breast pump. The milk that you pump can be stored in the freezer or refrigerator for future use. If you are planning on returning to work after your maternity leave, try investing in an electric pump. They are more effective, faster, and will keep your hand from cramping. If you spend a pump less frequently, a less expensive manual model will work just fine.

During the first weeks home with your newborn, you will be glad to have these products at hand. They also make wonderful gifts to take to a baby shower for one of your loved ones.
